We are currently looking for a substitute registered nurses (RN) to support both the Elementary and Jr/Sr High School. This work involves the performance of professional nursing activities in the care, comfort and well-being of student patients. Works under the general supervision of the Student Support Administrator with a degree of latitude permitted for independent judgment in nursing care skills and patient needs. May exercise some supervision over subordinate staff. Does related work as required.
Typical Work Activities:
- Performs assigned nursing activities, procedures and administers specified medications/treatments as required;
- Assess patient nursing care needs.
- Maintains essential health care records and reports as necessary;
- Gives skilled nursing care and prescribed treatment to student patients.
- Identifies physical illness of student patients through observation and analysis of records.
- Counsels and guides individual in the prevention of illness and the attainment of health recovery.
- Does related work as required.
Full Performance, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics: Good knowledge of current professional nursing practices; skill in the application of current nursing procedures and techniques of patient care; ability to assess the needs and concerns of people and maintain constructive working relationships in dealing with them; ability to communicate effectively; ability to accept and utilize guidance; ability to perform duties in accordance with the ANA code for Professional Nurses; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
Minimum Qualifications: Registered Professional Nurse License. Completion of a course of study approved by the NYS Education Dept. as qualifying as a Registered Professional Nurse and three months of hospital or skilled nursing facility experience.
