We are seeking a qualified Bus Attendant to join our Transportation Department.
Distinguishing Features of the Class: This is routine work which includes the responsibility for the safety of school children on regularly scheduled bus trips to and from school. This employee is also responsible for the care and safety of all handicapped students on the buses. Does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities (Illustrative Only):
- Accompanies school bus for the purpose of assisting pupils to climb aboard and alight from the bus;
- Helps young pupils to cross the highways to safety;
- Maintains order on the school bus;
- Makes certain that passengers are seated while the bus is in motion;
- Secures seat belts when necessary;
- May assist pupils to and from the bus to the classrooms;
- Assists pupils and the driver as needed.
Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Personal Characteristics: Familiarity with the various bus routes in the district; some knowledge of the stopping places for pick up and drop off of the students; ability to understand and to follow simple oral and/or written directions; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position; ability to get along well with children and to maintain discipline.

Hours: Various hours depending upon bus route, 10 months per year
